FAQ
What are the Oliver K. Woodman books?
The Journey of Oliver K. Woodman and Searching for Oliver K. Woodman (Harcourt). Both feature a wooden man who travels cross-country; after he’s lost in the second book, a wooden woman Private Investigator goes out to find him.
What is the Oliver K. Woodman Map Project?
It is a project that encourages students, teachers, families, photographers and travelers to use the social app of Flickr photo sharing to map the travels of Oliver K. Woodman.
It is designed to be useful for families or classrooms.
Why Flickr?
- Flickr offers both security and privacy to keep the Project a G-rated collection of photos. As the Group Administrator, I can delete any objectionable photos (email me at darcy at darcypattison.com to report any).
You also have the option to make your photos private (shared with the group only) or public.
- Flickr also uses a drag-and-drop method to geotag, which is a good way to teach geography. Let students participate in the geotagging because they must correctly identify places on a map.
